Do ponto de vista ergonômico, todo recurso induz uma dinâmica na atividade de trabalho e nos modos operatórios adotados. Neste artigo utilizou-se como objeto de estudo a atividade dos coletores de lixo urbano de uma cidade de médio porte do interior paulista. O objetivo deste estudo é identificar os novos constrangimentos na atividade de trabalho de coleta de lixo urbano após a implantação do recurso operacional (contêiner de 1000 litros). Foi realizado um estudo de caso, orientado pela perspectiva da Ergonomia da Atividade, no qual a coleta de dados deu-se através observações livres, filmagens, construção da ficha de descrição da tarefa, entrevistas e questionários aplicados tanto aos coletores como à população atendida. Os resultados obtidos explicitaram a atividade real e suas variabilidades intrínsecas e extrínsecas expostas pela movimentação do contêiner implantado. Concluiu-se que as principais diferenças entre a situação anteriormente existente e a atual é o excesso de peso causado pelo mau uso dos contêineres pela população e a dificuldade de movimentação dos contêineres nas vias.

From an ergonomic point of view, every resource induces a dynamic in the work activity and in the adopted operative modes. In this article, the activity of the urban garbage collectors of a medium-sized city in the interior of São Paulo was used as object of study. The objective of this study is to identify the new constraints in the work activity of urban waste collection after the implementation of the operational resource (container of 1000 liters). A case study was conducted, guided by the perspective of the Activity Ergonomics, in which data collection took place through free observations, filming, construction of the task description form, interviews and questionnaires applied to both the collectors and the population served. The results obtained explained the real activity and its intrinsic and extrinsic variability exposed by the movement of the implanted container. It was concluded that the main differences between the previous situation and the current situation are the excess weight caused by the misuse of the containers by the population and the difficulty of handling the containers in the roads.
