Este trabalho procurou investigar a natureza da tecnologia utilizada na horticultura orgânica sob a perspectiva ergonômica. Teve por objetivo mapear a tecnologia empregada na horticultura em propriedades do Estado de São Paulo. Com a análise da atividade e aplicação de questionário junto aos seus gestores, procurou-se identificar adaptações, inovações e demandas tecnológicas que, simultaneamente, minimizassem a carga laboral e as dificuldades na execução das tarefas e aumentassem a produtividade do trabalho. Caracterizou-se a produção e mão de obra e identificou-se a tecnologia organizacional (modelos de gestão), a tecnologia produto (máquinas, ferramentas e equipamentos), a tecnologia processo (técnicas e estratégias para lidar com os recursos da produção) e a tecnologia de marketing (estratégias de inserção de seus produtos no mercado). Os principais resultados apontaram que os agricultores orgânicos dispõem de pouca tecnologia na forma de produto. As principais inovações, que permitem vantagens competitivas ou que permitem maior produtividade do trabalho ocorreram sob a forma de processos, organização e marketing.

This study sought to investigate the nature of the technology used in organic horticulture under an ergonomic perspective. The main objective was mapping the technology employed in the horticultural farms of the State of São Paulo. By applying activity analysis and questionnaires to the managers, the study searched for adaptations, innovations and technological demands that simultaneously minimized the workload and difficulties and increased labor productivity. The farms production system and labor were characterized and the types of technology used in work organizational (management models), mechanical artifacts (machinery, tools and equipment), process (techniques and strategies for dealing with the production resources) and marketing (insertion strategies of the products on the market) were identified. The main results showed that organic farmers have little technology in the form of mechanical products. The main innovations that enable competitive advantage or allows greater labor productivity occurred in the form of new processes, work organization and marketing.
