O dimensionamento errado de instrumentos manuais pode gerar constrangimentos ergonômicos. Conhecer a antropometria das mãos é indispensável para um correto dimensionamento, especialmente o quanto o gênero influencia neste aspecto. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar quantitativamente a influência do gênero na antropometria da mão humana. Os resultados indicam que as diferenças são significativas e que este fator deve ser considerado no design de instrumentos manuais.

The wrong sizing of handle instruments can generate ergonomic problems. To know the anthropometry of the hands is indispensable for a correct sizing, especially how much the gender influences in this aspect. The objective of this study was quantitatively to evaluate the influence of the sort in the anthropometry of the hand human being. The results indicate that the differences are significant and that this factor must be considered in design of manual instruments.
