No sistema de transporte rodoviário, observamos dois sub-sistemas nos papéis desempenhados pelo homem no trânsito: o homem não participante (dirigentes, montadores, construtores, técnicos) e o homem participante (condutores, passageiros, pedestres, fiscais). Assim verifica-se o multifacetamento dos papéis exercidos pelo homem em seu relacionamento com o veículo e a via, sob um enfoque ergonômico. São apresentadas algumas sugestões e a proposta de um reordenamento institucional visando a segurança de trânsito.

In the road traffic system, there are two subsystems in the roles carried out by the man in the traffic: the non participant man (normative directors, executive directors, manufacturers, constructors, technicians) and the participant man (drivers, passengers, pedestrians, inspectors). Then the multifaceting of the roles exercised by the man is verified in the relationship with the vehicle and the road, under an ergonomic approach. We outline some institutional reordering and assesments for enhancing traffic safety.
