Neste artigo os autores introduzem o conceito de Ergonomia na criação de uma Unidade de Tratamento Intensivo. Baseados em sua experiência, após a construção de uma UTI na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, eles descrevem soluções para vários problemas, não somente em termos de adequância física, mas também influências psicológicas. Deste modo, ao criarem melhores condições ambientais eles criaram melhores condições de trabalho para a equipe, e consequentemente influenciando positivamente na recupera- ção dos pacientes.

On this article, the authors introduce the concept of Ergonomics in the ereation of Inten- sive Care Unit. Based on their experience, afther building na I.C.U. in the city of Rio de Janeiro, they describe solutions to several common problems of these centers, not only in terms of physical structure adequacy, but also of its psychological infuences. On this way, by providing on appropriate environment, tthey create better working conditions to the staff, as well as a suitable atmosphere to the patients recovery, and this, much better re- sults.
